Elaborate stories that never happened, visions that are not there, genuine beliefs that are false... Confabulations, hallucinations, and delusions are common in dementia but how do we deal with these challenging behaviors?
This session will help professionals understand how to accept these behaviors through respect and sensitivity, and how to identify approaches that can be helpful in day-to-day practice.
After attending this course, participants will be able to:
- Introduce and identify confabulation, hallucinations, and delusions.
- Give examples of symptoms and challenges individuals face when these behaviors occur.
- Give examples of how you can create and execute non-pharmacological approaches that are person centered, and based upon a persons life history.
- Participants will review a case study and practice creating a non-pharmacological approach.

- Fee of $25.00 is per person. Only registered individuals who participate in this event have the ability to receive CE credit for this event.

- Individuals must attend the live interactive audio/ video seminars, and complete an online competency quizzes and evaluations which will be sent to the email address listed during registration. Participants have up to five (5) working days to complete both quiz and evaluations for each session. Participants will receive their CE / certificate of participation after they completed the live interactive audio/ video seminars, AND completed competency quizzes and evaluations. The webinar will not be recorded.
- Health Facility Administrator (HFA) CEs are available.
The Institute for Excellence in Memory Care/ Alzheimer's and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana (98001107A) has been approved by the Indiana State Board of Health Facility Administrators to provide 1.0 CEU's for this event.
- Social Worker (ASWB) CEs are available. The Institute for Excellence in Memory Care, #1713, is approved to offer social worker continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB.) Approved Continuing Educatoin (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. The Institute for Excellence in Memory Care maintains responsibility for this course. ACE proivider approval period (06-14-23--06-14-26.)Social Workers participating in this course will receive 1.0 General continuing education credits.

In accordance with the Federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we will never knowingly solicit, nor will we accept, personally identifiable information from users known to be under (13) years of age. If an institute with students that are under thirteen (13) years of age uses our services, the educational institute may provide us with personally identifiable information about its students. We use that information to provide the services to the educational institution and its students.
3. Intellectual Property
We are the owner and / or authorized user of all trademarks, logos, service marks, and trademarks (collectively the “trademarks”) on this site, and is the owner or licensee of the content and/ or information on the site. Except as otherwise expressly provided herein, or pursuant to the Terms and Conditions, your use of the site does not grant you a license to any content or materials you may access on the site. Nothing contained on the site should be construed as granting any license or right to use any Trademark displayed on the site without our written permission o that of the third party rights holder.

Subject to the terms of the Services Agreement, If applicable, we reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to restrict, suspend, or terminate this Agreement and your access to the services and/or all or any part of this site, at any time and for any reason without prior notice or liability.
11. Hassle-Free Cancellation Policy
If you contact the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana at 1-888-303-0180 at least 48 hours before the event date, you will receive a full tuition refund.
12. Grievance Policy
Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, and the Institute for Excellence in Memory Care seeks to ensure equitable treatment of every person and to make every attempt to resolve grievances in a fair manner. Please submit a written grievance to: Institute for Excellence in Memory Care, 922 E. Colfax Ave. South Bend, IN 46617. Grievances will initially be directed to the training instructor. Grievances would receive, to the best of our ability, corrective action in order to prevent further problems. 13. Miscellaneous
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid by any court having competent jurisdiction or terminated in accordance with the Termination provision above, the invalidity or termination of such provision shall not affect the validity of the following provisions of this Agreement, which shall remain in full force and effect: “Intellectual Property,” “Communications to Zoom Hub,” “No Warranties,” “Indemnification,” “Termination of the Agreement,” “CEUs,” and “Miscellaneous.” Our failure to act on or enforce any provision of the Agreement shall not be construed as a waiver of that provision or any other provision in this Agreement. No waiver shall be effective against us unless made in writing, and not such waiver shall be construed as a waiver in any other or subsequent instance. Except as expressly agreed by us and you in writing, this Agreement constitutes the entire Agreement between you and us with respect to the subject matter, and supersedes all previous or contemporaneous agreements, whether written or oral, between the parties with respect to the subject matter. The section headings are provided merely for convenience and shall not be given any legal import. This Agreement will inure to the benefit of our successors, assigns, licensees, and sublicenses.
14. Your Rights
If you are a European resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below. Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you order a class through our site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Training Levels: Which training is right for you?
The Institute for Excellence in Memory Care wants you and your staff to have the tools to succeed in the ever changing Memory Support field. This is why are committed to provide cutting edge, high quality memory care training for you and your staff.
In order to provide the best experience for you and your staff, we have determined the levels at which our training content and materials are developed and presented.
Beginning: Beginning level courses may provide an introduction to a content area and may include information about a particular condition, treatment method, or issue. Learning objectives involve learning and comprehending content. Courses are appropriate for new graduates or individuals who have recently changed fields of practice.
Intermediate: Intermediate level courses provide information that builds on knowledge practitioners with some experience already have. These courses focus on skill-building or adding knowledge, possibly following a brief overview of basic information. Learning objectives involve using information in concrete situations and understanding underlying structure of the material. Courses are appropriate for individuals with a year or more experience in the relevant field of practice
Advanced: Advanced level courses provide content for participants who have been working in the content area and have a clear understanding of the issues. These courses cover and address the complexities involved in the work. Learning objectives involve synthesizing material to create new patterns or structures or evaluating material for a specific purpose. Courses are appropriate for individuals with several years of experience in related work. Level of education may be relevant in cases such as advanced clinical skills training.
