The Center for Performing Arts Minneapolis (CFPA) is pleased to announce an evening of four new performance works developed in residencies over the past year. We are thrilled to continue our celebration of 30 years of nurturing creativity and connection in South Minneapolis with these new performance pieces!
The evening begins with 3 artist in residency presentations by these cross-cultural collaborations: Mariadela Belle Alvarez and Tearra Oso; Sam Aros-Mitchell and Masanari Kawahara 川原正也; and Kay Joanne Carvajal Moran and Angelica Bello Ayapantecatl. The second half of the evening will be the presentation of a new production Gunggong & Bombo: A Drum's Tale created by Tiyumba African Drum & Dance Co and Away Runakuna developed in collaboration with Exposed Brick Theater, and directed by Siddeeqah Shabazz.
We invite audiences to the festivities on Friday April 3rd & Saturday April 4th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM CST at 3754 Pleasant Ave. Sliding scale tickets are available to keep the event accessible for all. Expect two evenings rich with live performances and local foods, and an atmosphere pulsing with the spirit of collaboration and creativity.
