Goodwood Museum & Gardens invites the community to enjoy an afternoon of family-friendly fun at its annual Ice Cream Social on Sunday, April 12, from 3 to 5 p.m. on the Goodwood front lawn. The event is free and open to the public.Guests of all ages can cool off with a complimentary ice cream bar, cookies, and refreshing lemonade while enjoying a welcoming, community-centered atmosphere on the historic grounds.
The event will feature a wide variety of activities, crafts, and interactive experiences hosted by local nonprofits and cultural organizations. Live entertainment will include a performance by local children’s entertainer “The Safari Man,” bringing music and energy to the afternoon.
Families can also enjoy hands-on educational experiences, including marine touch tanks from the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab, featuring colorful and safe-to-handle sea life such as starfish, conchs, sea urchins, and hermit crabs. Children can create “seed bombs” with Master Gardener volunteers from UF/IFAS Extension Leon County, and meet animals from SandyLand Farmstays, a returning favorite known for its memorable animal encounters.
Additional activities include demonstrations from TigerRock Martial Arts, a STEM activity from the Challenger Learning Center, adoptable puppies from Valhalla Rescue Center, and wildlife education from St. Francis Wildlife.
The Ice Cream Social also provides a unique opportunity for children to meet and interact with local first responders, offering a fun and engaging way to learn about their important role in the community.
All activities, experiences, and refreshments are provided free of charge, making the event an accessible and enjoyable outing for families across the Tallahassee area.
