Come along to IC for a warm, welcoming evening celebrating Nowruz - the ancient festival celebrating renewal, reflection and new beginnings
About this Event

Join Halaqa for a free community gathering at the IC as we come together to mark Nowruz, a celebration observed for over 3,000 years by many cultures, including communities from Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and across Central Asia and the diaspora.

Nowruz is a time of renewal, reflection, and new beginnings. Traditionally marked at the spring equinox, it brings people together around shared rituals such as the Haft-Seen table, symbolising life, growth, health, love and hope for the year ahead.

On the night, you can enjoy:

  • Live music from Iran, Afghanistan, the SWANA region, alongside Australian Country and Jewish musical traditions
  • Persian poetry and storytelling
  • A traditional Azeri dance performance
  • Persian snacks and sweets, shared in the spirit of hospitality
  • A relaxed jam session to close the evening - bring your instrument and join in, or simply listen and enjoy

Come alone or bring a friend, we look forward to seeing you there!
