About the Biochar Academy™ ProgramThe IBI Biochar Academy™ is your chance to immerse yourself in all things biochar. The training is led by biochar experts and practitioners with regional knowledge to provide a unique opportunity to quickly connect with and contribute to scaling the biochar industry. This unique experiential learning program is open to everyone, from those just beginning their biochar journey to current professionals in the industry. The program blends presentations and demonstrations with hands-on practice, and features daily site visits to engage with real-world biochar production and application.
Asia Pacific Academy Details
Hosted in partnership with the International Biochar Asia Pacific Trade Association (IBAP) from 6 July – 10 July, 2026, attendees are expected to arrive the evening before (5 July) to get settled in.
Beginning at Universidad Kasetsart, in Bangkok, Thailand, the 5-day Academy will go on the road, taking attendees from site visit to site visit (four total locations) across the region.
PARTICIPANTS WILL:
* Hear from biochar experts to gain insight into the current and future state of biochar research, commercial activity, and opportunities
* Become equipped with essential knowledge for training others in biochar fundamentals
* Make biochar using low-tech methods and identify a wide variety of applications for biochar
* Discuss the relationship between biochar and climate change mitigation
* Recognize the growing number of biochar production technologies, their co-products, scaling potential and more
* Grasp the carbon removal marketplace and opportunities for biochar producers and farmers with a regional focus the Asia Pacific
* Network with other biochar stakeholders working in research, farmer education, carbon removal markets, biochar production and market development
