About this Event
A process facilitator is different from a learning facilitator. In process facilitation, learning about the content is not the objective of the participants, as they already possess the knowledge and experience to help themselves. Hence, the facilitator does not teach content. Their role is to:
- Design and guide the process of conversation and thinking
- Enable divergence (surfacing perspectives and options)
- Enable convergence (making sense, prioritising, deciding)
- Remain neutral to the content, even without deep subject-matter expertise
In this facilitation Pow-Wow session, members of IAF will be trying their hand at facilitating the participants with a specific technique or method while being evaluated based on the IAF Competencies. Similar to Toastmasters for public speaking, this initiative acts as a training ground to learn and practice facilitation as a skillset.
Who is it for?
Only IAF members can practise facilitating, but this event is open to anyone curious about process facilitation. They will get a chance to observe and discuss the facilitated intervention and, in the process, learn more about this craft.
