About this Event
“I want the best for you” aka “My life with the gays”
When I’m asked where I fit into the LGBTQ world I always say “I’m in there. I don’t have a letter yet. But I’m in there” so when I was asked to be to the Celebrity Grand Marshall of the Vegas Pride parade—it was one of the best things that had happened to me in a long time. They didn’t actually ask me to be the parade-I called them and asked “can I be in the parade? I’m a 57 year old single parent in Santa Monica with a son who plays baseball. Men are frightened of me and I need to get OUT OF HERE AND GET SOME HOPE FLOWING FOR HUMANITY”.
I took my Bff from high school, Wendy, and we fought and cried and our souls were saved the night the Vegas Pride was Rained out.
The show is about aging, loss, family, community, and how I dated every closeted gay boy in Indianapolis Community theater starting at age 12. It’s about how I’ve always found family with LGBTQ community and there’s a little bit about meeting the actual Mayor of Vegas who was a huge Hacks fan but was disappointed I wasn’t Jewish but thrilled that Wendy was. So it worked out.
A portion of ticket/art sales will go to Create CA.
