DISCOVER THE MOVING MUSIC FESTIVAL OF CONSERVATORIUM MAASTRICHT
"I SHALL LOVE BUT WINDS"
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
"Wind Band Lessons" is an educational project within the Moving Music Festival that offers young conducting students a unique and highly practical learning experience. Beyond regular classes, students receive instructions directly on the podium, working live with a wind orchestra. Within ten weeks a full concert program is being developed and rehearsed, allowing students to experience the entire process of creating a performance. Throughout the rehearsal process, the student conductors rotate on the podium, gaining experience with the full repertoire and developing their individual artistic gestures. Continuous individual feedback is provided by their teacher, Jos Zegers, making the process both intensive and highly personal. Working with a real orchestra in this way is both a privilege and an essential step in learning the art of conducting.
The ensemble itself is a carefully balanced collaboration between wind band students from the Conservatorium Maastricht and high level amateur musicians from Maastricht and the surrounding region.
The name of the Project has its origin in "I shall love but thee" by dutch composer Jan Van der Roost, who composed this song for his sons wedding. Soloist and soprano Kristina Bitenc will perform this piece as a highlight in this concert.
