In a Hypergame the audience and performers work together to “play” an interactive musical story. It’s Reggie Watts and Dungeons and Dragons put in a blender. Always delirious, unique and sublimely stupid.
Okay, but I’m still confused. What is it EXACTLY?
As the audience, you’ll get to guide a character through a goofy genre bending story by making suggestions and weighing in as much as you're comfortable. We’ll do all the hard work and participation is not mandatory, but you can wield as much power as you want.
To bring this story to life we use elaborate projected visuals and a bespoke rig of synthesizers, guitars and samplers strapped together until it looks like a spaceship. In a world stuffed full of LLMs and image generators, we choose to expend maximum effort to make immersive stupidity ourselves!
How do I know if this show is for me?
Of course it’s for you! But here’s some things that might make you particularly primed to Hypergame it up:
- Would you describe yourself as Dungeons and Dragons curious?
- Are you already into TTRPGs?
- Do you think synthesizers are cool?
- Do you like video games?
- Do you like improv comedy?
- Do you like saying "hey, that was really neat"
- Do you just REALLY want to know what this thing is?
