The Plymouth Choir from First-Plymouth Church in Lincoln, Nebraska, will present a free hymn festival at Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m.In “Sing Glory to the Name of God: A Festival of Hymns,” the choir will bring a message of hope in a program celebrating the many names we offer God. All who attend will be invited to raise their voices in beloved hymns, and the choir will sing spiritually powerful, expressive music by Margaret Bonds, André Thomas, and conductor Tom Trenney. The Plymouth Choir has been heard more than 18 million times across the world on YouTube, and they are grateful for this opportunity to share their ministry in Tulsa, Wichita and Dallas for the first time.
Wilshire’s minister of music, Ariel Merivil, previously served on staff at First-Plymouth, and the Wilshire Sanctuary Choir will join the Plymouth Choir for the program.

The Plymouth Choir sings weekly for worship at First-Plymouth Church in Lincoln, Nebraska — a diverse and inclusive community of faith called to increase the love of God and neighbor. The choir’s rich history has included more than a dozen recordings, six international tours and performances with legendary composers and conductors including Robert Shaw, Randall Thompson, Rene Clausen, Rosephanye Powell, Stacey Gibbs, David Willcocks, John Rutter, Alice Parker, Anton Armstrong, Jake Runestad and Aaron Copland. Recent performances have taken the choir from McCook, Nebraska, to Vienna, Austria; and from Carnegie Hall to the Nebraska State Penitentiary.
About Wilshire:
Founded in 1951, Wilshire is a justice oriented, inclusive, intergenerational community of faith where everyone is welcome and valued just as they are. Wilshire’s Sanctuary Choir, directed by Ariel Merivil, sings for worship most weeks and is part of a comprehensive music ministry offering opportunities for preschoolers through senior adults. Wilshire is affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and a member of the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists.
