'Rendered in Light' - FRIDAY - 30/1/2026
Continuing our Solidarity on Screen series, we are pleased to present this powerful film.
Left behind in a city under siege, a software engineer transforms his loneliness into a lifeline for others, creating virtual worlds of healing that defy the destruction around him.
This film is an intimate portrait of resilience, exploring how one man’s compassion and creativity become tools for survival. It's a story about holding on to family through distance, building connection through technology, and refusing to let go of hope even when the world gives every reason to.
Join the post-screening Q&A with the film director MARIA MARRONE and HALA SABBAH from the Sameer Project.
MARIA MARRONE is a Venezuelan-born filmmaker and photographer.
She is an emerging documentary director who has worked in post-production for 8 years. She received her undergraduate degree from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and her Master's from the London School of Oriental & African Studies.
Maria has worked with Oscar-nominated directors Karim Amer & Jehane Noujaim, as well as with award-winning editor Keiko Deluchi.
Her cinematography, editing and co-direction in her first film, The Ritual to Beauty, won the Grand Jury prize at Slamdance and received nominations at BlackStar Film Festival, HotDocs, and BFI London Film Festival.
Maria has dedicated much of her work to films that promote social change, most notably for the Muslim, Latinx, and Afro-Latinx diaspora. She has used her talents to create moving pieces for charities working out of Palestine and Iraqi Kurdistan.
Then, channel our anguish & righteous anger with positive actions through health BDS campaigns - No Palantir in the NHS & Boycott TEVA
