About this Event
Please join us for HVRC's second Conference in Motion event: a tour of the Poughkeepsies’ Water Treatment Facility.
Water quality concerns within the Hudson River have resurfaced after recent construction activity, like dredging operations for the Champlain Hudson Power Exchange (CHPE), have begun with its waters. We invite you to tour the Poughkeepsies’ Water Treatment Facility to learn about the water treatment process and speak directly with drinking water operators. The walking tour, led by Plant Administrator Randy Alstadt, will take you through the Facility where you will be able to walk through the stages of the water treatment processes from raw to finished water. Please wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes.
Owned and operated by the City and Town of Poughkeepsie, the Water Treatment Facility provides drinking water to 80,000 individuals within the City of Poughkeepsie, Town of Poughkeepsie, the Dutchess County Water Authority, and the Town of Hyde Park. The facility supports two of the seven municipalities that source their water from the Hudson River. These seven municipalities are jointly known as the Hudson 7.
Capacity of the tour is limited to 20 people, so please register early. A waiting list will be available if the tour exceeds capacity.
