An exhibition exploring the fine art dimension of tattoo artists’ practice.
Behind every tattoo artist is a wider artistic practice — sketches, paintings, experiments, and personal works that rarely leave the tattoo studio walls except through tattooing itself.
This exhibition brings together five tattoo artists presenting artworks beyond the skin. Working across mediums including painting, drawing and synthetic skin, the exhibition offers a closer look into the artistic worlds that shape and inspire their tattoo practices.
While rooted in tattoo culture, the works presented are not limited by it. Themes of symbolism, mythology, identity, anatomy, ornamentation, memory, and transformation move through the exhibition, revealing connections between tattooing and contemporary fine art.
The exhibition invites visitors to experience tattoo artists not only as craftspeople, but as multidisciplinary artists whose practices extend far beyond the tattoo chair.
