About this Event
Two events with Flaska band from Hungary on 11/23/25 in New Brunswick, NJ: concert at 12 noon at the Magyar Reformed Church AND dance house with teaching circles between 5PM-10PM at the Hungarian Scouts House.
About the Flaska Band:
The goal of the band is to fill everyone up, like a flask is filled before a long journey. They wish to create this travel material for everyone with their tool: Hungarian folk music, that has been preserved and passed on for centuries. They also try to carry this value in their flask, wherever they can and for as long as they can.
- Over 100 performances in 24 countries, at major festivals and concert halls
- Since 2017, the official ensemble of the Hungarikum Department of Hungary’s Ministry of Agriculture
- Ensemble includes string and wind instruments, cimbalom, vocals, and folk dance
- Members are all conservatory-trained musicians who also teach folk traditions
- Two released albums: one traditional folk compilation, and one Christmas album
About the Concert:
Advent in the Carpathian Basin is a festive musical journey through the winter and Christmas traditions of Hungary and its surrounding regions. The program features vibrant instrumental folk music, traditional dances, carols, and storytelling—performed by classically trained musicians deeply rooted in village traditions. It is heartfelt, family-friendly, and highly engaging.
About the Dance House:
Dances from various regions of Hungary and Transylvania will be taught to everyone by advanced dancers. Bring your dance shoes! Live music by Flaska band!
