*NOTE: This is NOT an official event of Wild Wild West Con 2026. It is a separate event organized by private individuals and NOT included in any WWWC package or admission. If you're still in the Tucson area and want to keep in the spirit of Steampunk, then consider this daytrip: an opportunity to show off steampunk in the place where it all started -- the original venue of WWWC, Old Tucson Studios!
Here are the details you need to know:
-- Old Tucson Studios is about a 10- to 15-minute drive away from the Tucson area. Depending on attendee count, it may be possible to arrange carpooling for those without a car.
-- There *is* an admission fee: $39.95 US for adults, $34.95 for children aged 5-12. There are discounts available for seniors (65+), US military members, and first responders. Tickets can be purchased in advance, online, at the Old Tuscon Studios website.
-- The group rendezvous point will be in front of the Courthouse at 11h30. This will give us time to do a group shot and witness the flag-raising ceremony in the town square, typically performed by the youngest visitor to OTS on that day.
-- Recommended activities include: the Studio History Tour, Diamond Lil's show at the Grand Palace (steampunkers wearing kilts may learn how to do the can-can), the Battle of Broken Creek, and the Stunt Demonstration Show in late afternoon. It's also a good time to pair with a WWWC veteran for shared reminiscences of venues where events were held.
-- there are food venues on site, of fast-food / cafeteria quality. Outside food is not permitted except for foods deemed medically necessary.
-- Steampunk garb is STRONGLY encouraged for this event. However, there are guidelines to be observed. The following are NOT allowed:
-- handbags (except for clear plastic, and those no bigger than 6" x 12" x 6")
-- weapons (bladed props, Nerf blasters, etc.)
-- smoking materials (pipes, vapes, holders, etc.)
-- general rule of thumb: if you're not allowed to carry it on board an aircraft, you probably won't be allowed to bring it into OTS
-- it is also recommended that, if you don't have an item that makes you stand out as obviously steampunk, you wear your WWWC ribbon-badge-bestowed badge, in order to keep people from mistaking you for the OTS costumed staff.
