In the 19th century, a drunken applejack salesman must go from zero to hero and become North America's greatest fur trapper by defeating hundreds of beavers.
Parodying survival flicks like The Revenant and taking cues from disparate things like silent movies, slapstick comedies, and let's play videos, Hundreds of Beavers was shot over 12 weeks in rural Wisconsin and Michigan across twelve weeks for just $150,000. The beavers and most of the other animals throughout the film are portrayed by actors in mascot costumes.
The filmmakers revel in their "lo-fi punk" DIY aesthetic, turning their lack of a budget into a way of making the finished product into a knowing, hyper-stylized, and silly piece of work perfect for your April Fool's Day movie experience.
