About this Event
Join the Humber IOSH Community for an engaging and immersive mock criminal trial based on a realistic workplace health and safety incident. This interactive event places you at the centre of the courtroom, where you will take on the role of the jury and decide the outcome of the case.
During the session, you will hear evidence presented by both the prosecution and the defence, just as you would in a real criminal court. Witness testimonies, legal arguments, and key facts will be examined as the case unfolds. Your task, alongside fellow attendees, will be to carefully consider the evidence before reaching your verdict: Guilty or Not Guilty.
This scenario has been designed specifically for educational and professional learning purposes and does not represent a real case. No legal knowledge is required to take part, simply bring your curiosity and willingness to engage in the discussion.
The event will also explore the real-world consequences of workplace incidents, including criminal investigation, legal scrutiny, reputational damage, and personal accountability. It provides a unique opportunity to see how decisions made in the workplace can be examined under the intense spotlight of the criminal courts.
Following the verdict, there will be an opportunity for open discussion and reflection, allowing participants to explore the key safety, leadership, and legal lessons from the case.
This event is particularly valuable for:
- Health and Safety professionals
- Managers and supervisors
- Business leaders
- Anyone responsible for workplace risk management
