About this Event
Humanitarian work demands stamina, teamwork, and trust.
Humanitarian Hikers is where we build that — together.
This monthly social hike brings volunteers outdoors to connect, stay capable, and strengthen the steady physical readiness that supports real-world response.
About the hike
Humanitarian response often involves long hours on your feet, uneven terrain, and carrying essential gear.
This hike creates space to:
- Connect with fellow volunteers
- Maintain practical, mission-relevant fitness
- Build confidence gradually over distance
We move at a conversational pace. We prioritise consistency over intensity.
The goal is simple: walk together and stay ready.
What to expect
- Around 8–10km at a comfortable pace
- Volunteer hike leads
- A welcoming mix of regular and first-time participants
- A community-focused environment
If you care about staying ready for the field — without turning fitness into a solo task — this is for you.
Gear guidance
To reflect common operational conditions, we encourage participants to:
- Wear long pants
- Use proper walking shoes or boots
- Try carrying a light load (around 5–6kg) if comfortable
You’re not expected to meet all of this immediately. Build up gradually as you feel ready.
