This event posting is for the OCTOBER 2023 sale. Todd Whalen here :) the organizer of this sale. I wrote this little letter to you, who's reading this right now. We’ve made some changes/improvements to the sale so please read all the way to the bottom. Please read it so you can understand who we are and why you should come to this book sale. You won't be disappointed with our sale, I promise!
JLC’s Low Cost Community Book Sale is a family-run project that gets ALL the books directly FROM THE COMMUNITY through our community service called Give My Books (givemybooks.com).
We have some of the most common to extremely eclectic books that change EVERY sale. The books are valuable to readers in general, to collectors and resellers, (Amazon, eBay, Bookstores, Dealers, Etc.) with EXTREMELY reasonable prices. This is a sale that is worth coming to!! Again, I promise.
This is the last sale of the year with all the details outlined below under "SALE DETAILS".
Here are 4 ways to get free books from us at this October book sale:
1. Volunteer. We pay volunteers with free books. Send me a direct message if you’re interested. (You’ll get many free books depending on how long you can help, no purchase of books is needed)
2. Be a teacher. Show us your teacher ID and get one additional book free with your purchase. (1 free book)
3. Teachers also get 10% off any books you want to buy (every 10 books -10%= 1 free book)
4. Join our email list at jlcbooksale.com to get a “$5 off orders of $20 or more” coupon. (Coupon is sent the week of the sale just so you’re not wondering where it’s at when you sign up, it’ll be coming) Scroll to the bottom of the webpage and join the email list. (That’s 2.5 adult books or 5 kids books free)
Thank you SO MUCH for reading my little letter to you.

Food Drive:
In times past, we collected money for Food Gatherers to help people who are food insecure in our local area. This sale and the last one we collected money for our dear friend Penny who has recently been diagnosed with ALS and has lost her ability to speak almost completely and her ability to swallow is diminishing quickly too. She is no longer able to work so we are raising money to help her and her family in this very hard time for them. We are doing this by collecting tips at checkout. Simply leave a tip after you buy your items and 100% of the money will go to Penny and her family. We raised just over $1,500 for her at the last sale! Can we do it again at this one??!
Final Note About Premium Access Day and Teachers Night:
Because both will be going on at the same time and the books are at different prices, we would like to request that everyone who utilizes the teacher night’s regular prices and the teacher discount will be using the books to benefit their students, classrooms or homeschool households. We understand that teachers/parents also like to read adult fiction and nonfiction books too, so we are happy to give you the regular prices and discount and free books for those books as well, as you buy books for your students. ??
The purpose of this section is to request that nobody will misuse the teacher night prices and discounts if they are, in fact, buying books to resell or otherwise using the books for their personal use rather than for the benefit of children or classrooms. Therefore, we reserve the right to refuse the teacher discounts of free books and regular prices and 10% off at our discretion on Wednesday.
We love giving free books, special prices and discounts, but we also would like to be honored regarding the purpose of the special times. Thank you for this.
So,
Please, come to the sale.
Please, tell others about it.
Please, have a wonderful day today!
-Todd
