I'm Ben, and I spend alot of time talking to dragons. Not the ones in fairy tales, the ones that show up when things get hard. The ones that take over when you're tired, stuck, or lacking motivation.
Most people don't realise they've been training their dragons for years. Every avoided conversation, every suppressed feeling, every story we tell ourselves, it all feeds something in the background.
Before we judge it, it's worth understanding something.
Your dragons are not your enemy's. They were useful.
At some point in your life, they helped you survive.
They helped you stay safe, stay accepted, stay functioning.
Reading the room. Holding things in. Pushing harder. Shutting down.
That wasn't weakness. That was adaptation.
And it worked. It kept you going when you needed it most.
But those same adaptations, later in life, can become expensive.
What once protected you now drains you.
What once kept you safe now keeps you stuck.
So let me ask you:
When things get tough and motivation drops, who's in charge,
is it you, or your dragon?
Because the dragon solves problems that no longer exist, and by extention creates new ones.
Understand it, and you can train it.
I will share what has worked for me, where I've got it wrong, and what helped me find motivation again.
