About this Event
Welcome to the iaedp Lunch & Learn event! Join us for an insightful session on How To Talk about the medical side of EDs when I’m not a doctor, presented by Christine Stockert, RN.
Individuals with eating disorders experience Medic*tion complications as a direct result of the disorder. The complications can be severe, and if left untreated can lead to death. In addition to experiencing complications as a result of the ED, individuals can also experience complications as a result of the reintroduction of food. Many non-medical professionals are familiar with some of the medical complications of eating disorders, but don’t always feel comfortable speaking directly to their clients about them. During this presentation, clinicians take an in depth look at several of the common medical complications seen at the outpatient level (or lower levels of care like PHP and IOP), why they occur, and how they can address these complications with their clients.

Chrissy Stockert, RN is the Chief Health Officer at Within, and is coming to you from sunny and warm Miami Florida!
Chrissy’s journey in healthcare started after a career as a teacher, and she still loves to bring education into the work she does every day. After becoming a nurse in 2010, and working in various specialities, she found her passion, and has dedicated the past 12 years to pecializing in the field of eating disorders. She feels honored every day to work in this field and with this population. Guiding individuals towards recovery is both her mission and privilege. Beyond her professional endeavors, she is a proud mother of two wonderful children. She loves to go to their school plays and cheer at their soccer games!
