Learn about how you can prevent, manage, and help reduce pests in your garden with Integrated Pest Management Practices (IPM).
This is helpful information for indoor houseplants as well as your outdoor garden.
The IPM strategy includes:
— Prevention:
Optimizing plant health and resilience, and planning & managing the surrounding ecosystem, to help reduce the likelihood of pests appearing
— Scouting & Identification:
Noticing and identifying pests & beneficial organisms
— Monitoring:
Watching the health of the plant(s), populations of pests & beneficial organisms, and the environment.
— Injury & Action Decision:
Deciding when to treat.
— Treatment Options:
Choosing an effective treatment strategy (including natural options when possible), mindful of the goal to control pests with little impact on the environment.
—Evaluation:
Assessing effectiveness & planning next steps.
