Handling Difficult Conversations
You will explore techniques that will enable both parties to leave with clear and consistent messages (both positive and negative) and associated consequences. You will develop your feedback skills, handling difficult or demotivated people and learn to celebrate success. You will leave with a personal action plan identifying the key changes to help ensure you hold open and honest conversations with your team, peers and managers.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop attendees will be able to:-
- Explain the importance of offering feedback to help improve performance
- Apply techniques for giving and receiving feedback with honesty and integrity and implement the skills required for honest conversations
- Use Johari’s window to increase self-awareness and understand the impact you have on others
- Identify different models of feedback to help increase other’s self-awareness
- Examine the key skills needed to communicate effectively with your team and hold honest conversations that support growth and development
- Hold honest conversations around your view of individual potential, likelihood and timescales of progression to help manage individual expectations and succession plans
- Recognise how best to develop individuals to meet their personal needs and that of the business
- Create a robust action plan to implement Honest Conversations principles into their working day
