About this Event

What: How to Enter the Art World after…..with Hettie Judah and the Bluemonkey Artist Network
When: Wednesday 13th May 2026, 6-8pm
Where: Studio 1, Ground floor, Towner Gallery, College Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4JJ

Bluemonkey Network are delighted to welcome Hettie Judah to one of our 2 events this May, to celebrate the launch of her latest book, How to Enter the Art World after…... a late start, a first career, illness, raising children, a crisis of confidence, leaving it in disgust.

For this event we will first be hearing from 4 of our artist members who will share a 5 minute Pecha Kucha style talk about their practice, followed by an open floor discussion led by Hettie. We will then have an opportunity to purchase the book and have it signed by Hettie.

Doors open 5.30pm for a 6pm start. Cafe/bar open @ Towner.

Hettie Judah is a writer, and curator of the acclaimed exhibition Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood. The author of numerous books on art, she is well known as a critic, columnist, broadcaster and advocate for artists’ rights. Her latest book, How to Enter the Art World is a grown-up guide for any artist whose life is complicated, demanding and, well, human. Informed by years spent working with artists and dozens of candid interviews, it is a myth-busting bonanza full of insights, ideas and inspiration. Frank, funny and occasionally forthright, this is your friend on the path (back) into the art world.

Blue Monkey Network is an artist led network that offers monthly networking events, talks & professional development opportunities for artists in the area. The network is run by a dedicated team of artist volunteers with the support of many members. You can find out more about us and our events via our website www.bluemonkeynet.org

This event is free to BMN members and £5 for visitors payable on the night. This is a limited number event so please book your place in advance via Eventbrite.
