How Long Jug Band
(For fans of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band)
Celebrate the completion of the How Long Jug Band's new CD, Come On In, at this CD release show. The band's fourth album includes treats like a mandolin rag from 1906 and a Dan Hicks song from 1973, alongside the main course of classic 1930s jug band blues. Using traditional jug band instrumentation (think washboard, washtub bass and jug), the band loves presenting old, obscure songs with lyrics and arrangements that are too good to be forgotten.
The How Long Jug Band has performed in Portland since 2010, appeared at the National Jug Band Jubilee in Louisville, Kentucky four times and were inducted into the Jug Band Hall of Fame. Band member Arlo Leach teaches a jug band class at Artichoke Music and leads a monthly jug band jam at the Oakshire Beer Hall.
