How Health Inequities Affect Mental Health Protective Factors.
According to the World Health Organization:
“Health inequities are differences in health status or in the distribution of health resources between different population groups, arising from the social conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work, and age.” (WHO 2018)
The Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) aims to educate community-based organizations about:
- Understanding Health Inequities in Marginalized Communities
- Exploring the Historical Context of Health Inequities
- Identifying Manifestations of Mental Health Inequities
- Implementing Protective Factors and Mitigation Strategies for Mental Health
- Promoting Advocacy & Addressing Systemic and Structural Barriers
By understanding these factors, participants will be better equipped to address health inequities and strengthen mental health protective factors within their communities.
