How Do You Know Club™
Making sense of big emotions by listening to the body
with Nicola Besley, Registered Play Therapist and Relational Family Coach
How Do You Know Club™ is a gentle, relational, and informative five week parent programme that supports parents to feel more in control, more regulated, and more connected in their relationships with their children.
This relational model is suitable for all ages and for children with different ways of thinking, feeling, and processing the world. The programme supports parents to learn how to guide their child in a way that works for their unique brain and nervous system. Children can learn how to:
• Name a feeling
• Think about how they know they are having that feeling
• Notice what is happening in their body
• Identify what their body needs to feel better
We explore all emotions, not just the challenging ones to help children and parents build awareness of the full range of feelings that show up in everyday life. Parents learn how to support their children to listen to the information their bodies are sharing, and together families work out what is needed for everyone to feel a bit better. This approach supports children and adults to manage big feelings together. Over time, this awareness and practice generates greater emotional resilience and a stronger sense of regulation for everyone.
Parents attend all five sessions. Children are warmly invited to join their parent for the final session, where the ideas are shared and experienced together in a playful, supportive way.

£150–£280 for the full 5 week programme
(for 1 parent, with child attending the final session)

About the facilitator
The programme is led by Nicola Besley, a Registered Play Therapist and Relational Family Coach with over 30 years’ experience supporting children and families. Nicola's work is grounded in current trauma-informed practice, neurodevelopmental understanding, and contemporary attachment theory, with a strong emphasis on relational safety, regulation and practical application.
