About this Event
“How can we make sense of these experiences? And why would we want to?”
People can experience a diverse range of inner experiences and emotions which can be confusing and distressing both to the person but also to people around them.
The Hearing Voices Approach promotes an accepting, non-judgemental and supportive way of being with people who experience voices and visions. When we in our communities feel less afraid of these experiences it is possible to reduce stigmatisation and isolation and be part of an empowering process where people can find ways to live full lives.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
We are launching a peer support group for family, friends, colleagues and other community members who are supporting people who hear, see or sense things that others don’t. The idea is we are all equals sharing our experiences and questions together as a group and no-one is an expert. It is intended to be a mutually supportive space where people feel safe to ask questions and offer support to one another to create a strong supporter community.
To get this group off the ground we are running three workshops. In the third session we are aiming to:
- Share a structured presentation with ideas based on the Hearing Voices (add link) approach.
- Explore different ways of understanding what someone is experiencing
- Talk about what helps us feel empowered and have more hope
The session will be facilitated by Kelly and Elisabeth.
