About this Event
Born and raised in the Metro Detroit jazz lineage, saxophonist Houston Patton is a rising force who seamlessly bridges the gap between classic hard bop and forward-thinking contemporary improvisation. A University of Michigan standout and mentee of legends like Wendell Harrison, Patton has honed his craft on iconic stages from Cliff Bell’s and the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe to New York’s Minton’s Playhouse. Fresh off the release of his acclaimed 2024 debut album, Here We Are, Patton leads his ensemble with a sophisticated technical prowess and a soulful, grit-infused sound that reflects years of immersion in the Detroit and New York scenes. Joining us at Lucille’s, he brings a high-integrity performance that honors the jazz tradition while fearlessly carving out its future.
