About this Event
There has been a surge in tenant organizing in New London and surrounding towns in recent months. In this panel discussion, tenant union leaders address causes of recent rental housing problems in the area, as well as their experiences with community organizing. Moderated by Ariella R. Rotramel, Vandana Shiva Associate Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Intersectionality Studies and author of Pushing Back: Women of Color–Led Grassroots Activism in New York City (2020).

This event is part of "Housing Plus: How Better Housing Connects to Everything," a year-long series of public conversations brings together prominent scholars, practitioners, advocates, and community members to discuss the role of better housing in strengthening community life in all its aspects. "Housing Plus" is part of "We Live Here New London," an exhibit examining the history and present-day realities of the housing crisis in America, presented by Connecticut College and the Center for Housing Opportunity Eastern Connecticut.
