Join us for a powerful Prayer Vigil for Housing Justice on Tuesday, December 2!We’ll gather at 8:00 a.m. at Wichita City Hall, with the vigil starting at 8:30 a.m., to lift up the urgent need for affordable housing and show our leaders that our community is united. After the vigil, we will move into the opening portion of the City Council meeting to support two speakers from Justice Together — one from the Affordable Housing Steering Committee and one from the Homelessness Steering Committee — who will address the council at the start of the meeting. Your presence will help demonstrate strong, visible support for investing in affordable housing.
The need is urgent: 40% of Wichita renters are cost-burdened, paying more than they can afford for housing, and around 2,000 children in USD 259 are experiencing housing instability. Every voice matters in calling on the City to prioritize safe, stable housing for our neighbors.
Important Update: The City Council has postponed its vote on funding priorities for the proposed 1-cent sales tax to December 9. This gives us an extra week to make our case, but our December 2 plans remain unchanged. The vigil will serve as a powerful launch for the final week of action, building momentum and energy as we gather testimonies and prepare for the vote on the 9th.
Come pray with us, stand with us, and help ensure Wichita prioritizes affordable housing for all our neighbors,
