About this Event
The housing crisis has many causes and myriad symptoms. Those facing the most acute housing need are forced into rough sleeping, temporary accommodation, and sofa surfing. Those in existing social homes may be stuck in poorly-maintained and even unsafe dwellings. Meanwhile, those who might have expected to be on the route to home ownership and economic stability remain in the private rental sector, at the mercy of private landlords in cold and damp homes.
How does a holistic response to the housing crisis ensure that no group is left
behind? How can Labour MPs and councillors most effectively help those facing housing need? What support do housing providers and the charity sector need to deal with these issues at source? And how can a Labour Government in Westminster legislate to protect those at the sharpest end of the housing crisis?
