Built as a sanctuary during the darkest days of segregation, the Hotel Metropolitan opened its doors to African American travelers when most establishments shut them out. The halls once echoed with the footsteps of Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and even Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. Now those same footsteps are heard when no one is there!
The Purple Room, where jazz legends once played their hearts out, now plays host to unexplained voices and phantom music. EVPs capture whispers from another time, while guests and investigators alike report shadowy figures darting through hallways and lingering at the top of staircases. It seems some of the hotel’s most famous guests never signed the checkout book – and now you’ll be checking in to spend the night with them!
From the narrow corridors to the historic guest rooms, paranormal activity runs rampant. Visitors have been touched by unseen hands, heard conversations in empty rooms, and witnessed doors opening and closing on their own. For the first part of the evening, you’ll join our experienced team in small groups as we rotate through the hotel’s most active areas. Then, if you’re brave enough, explore on your own in the dead of night! After the investigation, retire to your historically haunted room – the same spaces where jazz greats and civil rights icons once rested their heads. Will you hear the distant sounds of jazz floating through the halls as you drift off to sleep? Or perhaps catch a glimpse of a legendary performer still taking center stage in your dreams?
We’ll provide all the ghost hunting equipment you need to investigate this incredible location, plus snacks and refreshments to keep your energy up throughout the night.
