Sunday October 11, 2026 at 4pm, The HOT L Poets Series continues at The Ivy Bookshop (Baltimore) with poets Christian Bancroft & Joanna Fuhrman!
The reading includes an open mic so bring a poem (1 poem, 3 min. or less).
Now in our eighth year, the reading series is the work of Smartish Pace and Baltimore Poets Theatre. Hosts: Clare Banks, David Yezzi, and Stephen Reichert.
Copies of A Ghost Has No Fantasies by Christian Bancroft will be available for sale at the event.

Christian Bancroft received his PhD from the University of Houston and is the recipient of a Michener Fellowship. He is the author of a poetry collection, A Ghost Has No Fantasies (Unbound, 2026); a book of scholarship, Queering Modernist Translation: The Poetics of Race, Gender, and Queerness (Routledge, 2020); and a co-edited collection (with Jenny Molberg), Adelaide Crapsey: The Life and Work of an American Master (Pleiades Press & Gulf Coast, 2018). His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Cimarron Review, Gulf Coast, The Missouri Review, Petrichor, and Prairie Schooner, among others.
Joanna Fuhrman is the author of seven poetry books, including Data Mind (Curbstone/Northwestern University Press 2024.). Her poems have appeared on the Academy of American Poets’ Poem-A-Day, The Slowdown podcast, and in the Pushcart Prize and Best American Poetry 2023 and 2025 anthologies. An Assistant Teaching Professor in creative writing at Rutgers University, she first published in Hanging Loose Magazine as a teenager and became a co-editor in 2022.
