Who Are We Supporting?
May is Mental Health Awarenss Month!
Triangle EAL's Helping Hooves Community Program is raising money to offer much needed assistance to young adults 18-29 suffering from loneliness and social isolation. Last year, the American Psychological Association revealed that loneliness and emotional disconnection overshadow 60% of adults today, while rates of suicide in young adults rose 61% from 2017 to 2021.
These young adults are the first generation born into social media; for them, it’s always been around. As a result, many young adults lack social skills, friendships, and key connections, both personal and professional. And for many, while their social media following numbers may be high, their self-esteem, interpersonal social skills, and mental health states are low. Anxiety and depression in this group is chronic and confusing, in part because they do not recognize screen time as the cause behind why they’re chronically lonely, while also lacking the social skills to connect.
This is a real and ongoing crisis across our country. Our young adults need mentoring and support. You can be a part of this movement by coming to this amazing event!
Through our Equine Assisted Learning curriculum, young people will learn how to connect and work with teams, recognize their own strengths, get a boost in boost confidence, and learn critical interpersonal communication skills. They will also learn about boundaries, accountability, building bonds, and much more. Together, six young adults will journey a 10-week curated program, working together and with horses, to experience the amazing gifts and healing only horses can provide.
Life doesn’t come with a roadmap. We’re here to help.
Come out and enjoy a great afternoon with live music, food and fun to help fund Equine Assisted Learning and empower the next generation.
