The third Horizon concert will focus on Indian music as the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra welcomes a distinguished veena virtuoso to collaborate with orchestra musicians. The concert will feature a mesmerizing collaboration between Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh, a distinguished sixth-generation veena virtuoso, and tabla maestro Pramath Kiran, alongside musicians from the HPO. Together, they will present a program that harmoniously merges two musical traditions.
The Saraswathi veena is India's revered national instrument with deep roots in the southern regions, and tabla is celebrated across the northern landscapes, symbolizing the essence of Indian classical music. These iconic instruments will blend their melodies with an HPO ensemble including flute, oboe, bassoon, viola and cello.
The Horizon concert series is a collaboration between HPO and MiklagardArts, curated by Ceyda Berk-Söderblom. Join us for a post-concert talk with Jayanthi Kumaresha and Pramath Kiran, followed by a Q&A session with the artists.
