Horizon Ensemble: Bridges

“And forever and forever, as long as the river flows…”

As the spring sun shines upon us, let’s celebrate the culmination of the Horizon Ensemble’s 5th season in Bridges! Join us on Sunday, May 31 at 3:00 PM in the Church of the Covenant on 67 Newbury Street.

We’ll start with The Activity of Sound by our friend Ruth Hertzman-Miller, a sweeping portrait of left-right travels upon the Harvard Bridge. Next is our second Call for Scores winner, Anak Baiharn’s A Schubert Tune with a Gershwin Touch, a quirky, offbeat banger that bridges a variety of moods and styles. Our music director Julian Gau’s Serenade finds loving melodies amidst evening scenes, including the Harvard Bridge. The final bridge is British composer Frank Bridge, who surrounds us in mystery and grandeur with his orchestral poem The Sea.

This is a pay-what-you-can concert, with suggested donation of $25. We will collect donations in person at the concert, or you can find us on Venmo at @HorizonEnsemble.
