About this Event

COR DE LUX grew out of the music scene of North Carolina’s Outer Banks in 2018. The band found each other over a by chance conversation about a love of music between its two founding members (guitarist Tim Lusk, and guitarist and vocalist, Dawn Moraga) while Moraga waited for a phone repair in Tim’s shop. This turned out to be the catalyst for their band’s formation, with John Bliven quickly added on bass and Thomas McNeely joining as drummer in early 2022. Their music (a mixture of post-punk, goth-tinged pop and shoegaze) has earned the tongue-in-cheek nickname ‘Shoe-Gazi’ by friends as it resembles a cross between dreamy fuzz-drenched guitars and a sound similar to Dischord post-punk band, Fugazi.

QUEEN RAT is a rock trio born in Ohio, growing up in Philly.

In 2019 — performing under the original name Rat Queen — the band released their debut EP “Clear Ghost Party Host” with the support of Twin Moon Arts Collective. Upon release, they played with acts including Dehd, Soccer Mommy, and Sneaks.

After the pandemic canceled a tour scheduled for 2020 and geographically separated the band, Queen Rat began writing an album while 2,698 miles apart. Spurred by interest from Jackie Milestone, a producer working out of Headroom Studios in Philadelphia, and funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign, the band made plans to bring their album to life. In April 2021, after a year apart, Eleanor Linafelt (lead vocals and guitar), Robby Newcomb (bass), and Kate Bertrand (drums) played their new songs together for the first time while recording their album over five days at Headroom Studios.

In early 2022, Queen Rat signed a publishing contract with Merge Music Publishing, relocated to Philadelphia, and formally adopted their new name. Their debut album “Until It’s Not” was released on May 6th, 2022. It's a collaborative, far-ranging record about friendship, nostalgia, Ohio, and awe.
