The Global Action for Sustainable Development (GASD) will host a one-day community outreach event in commemoration of International Women’s Day 2026 under the theme “Hope and Healing Forum.” The initiative aims to amplify the voices of women affected by substance use disorder while promoting community awareness and support for recovery. The event will take place on March 13, 2026, in the coastal community of West Point, Monrovia, Liberia, bringing together women with lived experiences to share their stories and engage in dialogue around recovery and social inclusion.According to organizers, the forum will convene more than 25 young women with lived experiences of substance use disorder, creating a safe space for open conversation, reflection, and empowerment. Through expert-led discussions and community engagement sessions, GASD will provide sensitization and awareness on harm reduction strategies, sexual and reproductive health, and the social challenges women face in addiction and recovery. The program is designed to strengthen knowledge, encourage peer support, and promote healthier choices among vulnerable women in the community.
As part of the outreach effort, participants will also receive free hygiene and sanitary products, reinforcing the importance of dignity, health, and well-being for women facing social and economic hardship.
