Honouring the Past, Shaping the Future: A community conversation about reopening Kidwelly’s Tinplate MuseumIf you would like to play a part in creating a vision for preserving Kidwelly’s tinplating industrial heritage, please join us at this event. Group facilitators Lorena Bacino and Alice Blackwell will guide discussions around presentations from Professor Louise Miskell and Katherine Watson (Swansea University), Dr Marian Gwyn (Museum Consultant), and Morrigan Mason (Museums & Arts Development Manager).
This event is supported by the Welsh Government Anti-Racist Wales Culture Fund. In it, we will share the outcome of a partnership between Swansea University and CofGâr (Carmarthenshire County Council’s museums and arts service) to break new ground into the research of the global colonial histories of the south-west Wales tinplate industry, with particular examination of the Kidwelly Tinplate Works.
This community conversation asks us to think about how a renewed Kidwelly Tinplate Museum could help the community. We will look at how research can lead to more projects and partnerships. Together, we will explore how learning about Wales’s tinplate past can help us learn and shape our local area.
