About this Event
This event will be both in-person and online.
Join us for a memorable evening honoring the enduring legacy of Dr. William E. Pannell—a pioneering voice at the intersection of faith, race, and justice. In honor of Dr. Pannell's birthday, we invite you to a panel discussion centered around his impactful book, "The Coming Race Wars."
Dr. Bill Pannell was a distinguished theologian and educator who dedicated his life to addressing complex questions of race and social justice within the context of faith. As one of the first African American professors at Fuller Theological Seminary, he provided insights that have and continue to be instrumental in shaping discussions on race relations and reconciliation in the church.
In this powerful book, Dr. Pannell challenges the church and broader society to confront the deep-rooted realities of racism, warning of the social and spiritual consequences of ignoring racial injustice. He speaks candidly about the historical tensions between Black and white communities, critiques the church’s complicity and silence, and calls for authentic reconciliation grounded in truth, humility, and action. Though written decades ago, *The Coming Race Wars* remains strikingly relevant, offering insight into the ongoing struggles around race and the urgent need for transformative change.
Through thoughtful dialogue, guided reflection, and community engagement, attendees will have the opportunity to wrestle with the book’s themes and consider how Dr. Pannell’s message continues to speak into today’s cultural and spiritual landscape. Whether you are familiar with his work or engaging it for the first time, this gathering invites you into a space of learning, remembrance, and purposeful conversation. This special night will include dinner for our guests.
