The Department of Indigenous Initiatives invites you to join us as we introduce Nìgàn.
Nìgàn is a collaboration between Algonquin College and community partners that creates meaningful relationships grounded in learning, respect and shared responsibility. Partners are invited to become part of the college community to experience relationship building, working in-circle, learning about Indigenization and reconciliation. This partnership also allows for experiences that can help shape or create change within their own organizations. This builds on the existing framework of the DARE6 program.

We are honoured to welcome Mr. Frank Horn of the Kahnawake community.
Frank Taiotekane Horn, is a Mohawk criminal lawyer from Kahnawà:ke, Quebec. Raised in a Mohawk-speaking family, he pursued studies in engineering and education before completing his law degree at McGill University in 1979. Called to the bar in 1982, he has practiced criminal law across Ontario, including in Hamilton, Kingston, Belleville, and Cornwall, where he continues to work today as a Criminal Defence Lawyer.
Early in life, he also worked as an ironworker on major construction projects across Canada and the United States. He is married, with five children and nine grandchildren.Mr. Horn is also the father of Wendiiosta Horn, .....Mamidoswein Centre’s Student Support Office.
This gathering also marks the transition of DARE6 to Nigan. Nigan reflects our commitment to building respectful, long‑term relationships between Indigenous communities, education, industry and community partners. Our focus remains on learning from Indigenous knowledge, supporting Indigenous learners, and fostering workplaces rooted in inclusion and reconciliation.
