Calling all homeschoolers! Dive into an exciting SciTech Afternoon featuring three dynamic classes tailored to three different age groups—each exploring the fascinating world of Geology

Homeschool: Buddies (Ages 3-6)
In this hands-on class, participants will become “Little Geologists” as they explore rocks, soil, and the wonders of the Earth through playful activities and simple science investigations. Using real stones, sand, and natural materials, we’ll dig, sort, stack, and compare—discovering different textures, colors, and shapes while learning how rocks form and how the ground beneath us changes. With plenty of time for movement, building, and sensory-rich play, this workshop is the perfect way to spark curiosity and introduce big Earth science ideas to growing minds!

Homeschool: Explorers (Ages 7-11)
Dive into the world of geology in this fun, hands-on lab activity! Kids will explore rocks, minerals, and the natural processes that shape our planet. Using real rock samples and simple tools, we’ll test how different rocks break apart, see how wind and water cause erosion, and model how layers of Earth build up over time. Students will dig, observe, compare, and make predictions as they discover what rocks can tell us about our planet’s past. This engaging workshop is great for curious young scientists who love to explore, investigate, and get their hands a little messy!

Homeschool: The Lab (Ages 12-18)
Dive into the world of geology in this hands-on lab activity! Participants will explore Earth’s processes by examining rocks, minerals, and the forces that shape our planet. Using real specimens and simple tools, we’ll investigate how erosion, weathering, pressure, and heat transform Earth’s materials over time. Students will test how different rocks break down, model geological processes like sedimentation and metamorphism, and analyze what these changes reveal about Earth’s history. This engaging activity encourages scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving—perfect for curious minds ready to explore how the Earth works from the ground up.
