Students and adults alike will discover the Indian River Lagoon by land and sea! Dolphins, manatees, birds, and other marine life may be encountered as the naturalist describes the lagoon and inhabitants aboard our 40 person pontoon. Participants will disembark onto a remote island in the lagoon to explore in depth. Each month will focus on a different topic, providing an engaging educational experience.
This program is offered from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. once each month throughout the school year.
K-12th grade | $25 per person
Minimum number of participants required for program to occur.
Students must be accompanied by an adult. Students AND adults must pay and register as participants.
2025-26 Programs:
September 17 & 24 • Keystone Species
“What species in the Indian River Lagoon are vital to the ecosystem’s wellbeing?”
October 15 & October 22 • Compare & Contrast
"Exploring the Indian River Lagoon through various methods and observations."
November 12 & 19 • Sounds of the Sea
“How does sound travel through water and what creatures are communicating?”
December 17 • Migration
“From birds to whales, many animals are beginning their migratory journeys through Florida’s coastal waters. What are these journeys like and how do they impact the Indian River Lagoon?”
January 14 • Weather vs Climate
"How do we understand weather trends?"

February 11 • Mollusks & Crustaceans (A Love Story)
"How do these creatures rely on one another in the Indian River Lagoon ecosystem?"

March 11 • All About Plants
"What is so important about plants and what kinds live in our lagoon?"

April 8 • Endangered Species
"What makes the Indian River Lagoon an estuary of national importance and what endangered species live here?"
