The laughter is coming to Owego when Homebrewed Comedy hits the stage at the John Barleycorn on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Brian Netzel is headlining the show and Don Johnson and Mike Levy are joining host Mike Peters.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and there's a recommended $5 donation at the door, which opens at 7. Come out and enjoy the show.
About the comedians:
Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters is the founder of Homebrewed Comedy. He hosts at the Syracuse Funny Bone and Wise Crackers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcasts, On the Mic with Mike Peters and It’s About Time: A Sopranos Watch Podcast.
Mike Levy is a big fan of word play and observational humor, but mostly he just loves all things funny. He’s been busy creating since the ‘70s, whether it’s man-on-the-street videos, satirical songs, comedic screenplays or short stories. Lately, his passion has been stand-up, and he’s enjoyed getting to know comedians from Rochester to Binghamton. He’s the host of the monthly open mic at Liquid State Brewing Company in Ithaca, and you can find him anywhere that anyone will allow him to speak freely.
Hailing out of Buffalo, Don Johnson mixes situational absurdity and self-deprecating earnestness. A regular at the Helium Comedy Club, Johnson hosts its local favorite Dirty Show and he’s opened for Tony Roberts and Jason Mewes. Johnson proves that if you can’t laugh at your surroundings, you may as well be livin’ in a box.
Brian Netzel is a stand-up comic from Buffalo, N.Y. A regular performer at Helium Comedy Club in Buffalo, Netzel has performed all over the country. He was at the Alaska Comedy Festival, The Milwaukee Festival and the Savage Henry Comedy Festival in Eureka, Calif.
