About this Event
In 1867, the Hawkesbury River rose to a staggering 19 metres, submerging much of the surrounding town and countryside. The basement of historic Howe House filled with sediment—remaining buried until its discovery during archaeological work in the 1980s.
Enter Howe House and discover the history of flooding in the Hawkesbury through hands-on examination of the archaeological material and historic slides. In addition, explore the Museum, working with museum staff to investigate objects from the collection.
For this program, learners will be broken into two groups based on age (5-8 years and 9-13 years). While preschool aged children will not be able to participate in the program, they are welcome in the Museum space with carer supervision. A carer is required to remain on-site throughout the workshop.
