Every workshop will look at and create a different kind of mushroom. We will have a mini-information sharing chat about the mushroom, at the start of each session. Learning outcomes, and National Curriculum coverage can be given to parents for each workshop.
Workshops run as a half term course. At the end of each half term, all participants will receive a certificate of their achievements, as well as their fired pieces.
The word sgraffito means ‘to scratch’ in Italian. This is a technique where leather-hard clay is coated in coloured slip and then areas are scratched or scraped away. The topcoat of slip is removed showing the clay beneath, creating a contrast of texture and colour.
Sculptural ceramics is a holistic practice that nurtures every dimension of wellbeing. It grounds the mind, strengthens the body, sparks creativity, and fosters connection. Working with clay offers a fulfilling path toward balance and growth (Sculptural Ceramics for Wellbeing).
