- Dialing In Espresso at Home
Learn how to pull a great shot of espresso. We’ll cover the espresso flavor “rainbow” (salty, sour, sweet, bitter), grind size using the sand vs. rocks analogy, proper tamping, and how to hit a 1:2 brew ratio. We’ll also talk about coffee aging and the ideal age for espresso.
Hands-on with volunteers adjusting grind, weighing coffee, and pulling shots. - Steaming Milk & Latte Basics
Learn how to steam velvety, smooth milk. We’ll cover purging and wiping the steam wand, basic milk-foaming technique, and an introduction to latte art.
Demonstration with hands-on steaming in the next section. - Make a Latte, Start to Finish
Bring it all together. Each participant will make a latte from start to finish. - Cleaning & Maintaining Your Home Setup
Learn how to keep your machine running well for years. We’ll cover water filtration, how and when to backflush, cleaning the steam wand, and how to disassemble and clean your grinder.
Demonstration with potential volunteer participation.
