Written and produced by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus, Home Alone (1990) is the highest-grossing Christmas film of all time, and made 10-year old Culkin a star. It was nominated for two Academy Awards including Best Original Score for the John Williams compositions. Williams has been nominated for 52 Academy Awards, making him the second most nominated individual after Walt Disney.
Home Alone tells the hilarious story of Kevin McCallister (Culkin) who is accidently left behind when his parents (John Heard and Catherine O’Hara) leave for Christmas vacation. Kevin must defend his home against two bungling thieves (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern).
