This high-energy evening is going to take us from comedy to poignancy to moments of bliss. A companion event to our gallery show MIXTAPE, this evening is inspired by the intersection of performance, music, and visual art. Monster Insight: Avi Steinhardt is a psychotherapist in private practice based in Brooklyn, NY. 600 years ago, Louie the monster fell asleep in a cave in what is now Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. He emerged for a few short visits over the last number of centuries, before permanently moving in with Avi in 2019, after meeting him on a walk in the cemetery. Louie offers distinctly other than human perspectives on poetry, myth, and the human condition.
Sirena: curates an aura of indulgence wherever she goes. She specializes in her own creation, Song Divination, a stylized, unique type of tarot reading.
The artist behind the work, Sarina Nuñez, is a chaotic and eclectic sea witch that used to lurk below the seafoam from which Aphrodite was born. She was sent to the modern world to lure mortals with music, magic, and healing. She has been performing live since 2014 and crafting coastal concoctions and contraptions for the last 2 years, debuting her sea treasure collection here at ChagallPAC for the first time.
Stephanie Burt: her latest book of poems is WE ARE MERMAIDS (Graywolf, 2022). Look for SUPER GAY POEMS, an anthology with essays, in 2025, and for a book about Taylor Swift soon after that! Hated and feared by the world she's sworn to protect, she's lived in Washington, DC, Maryland, Connecticut, New York City, Oxford, St Paul, Minnesota, eastern Krakoa and Christchurch, NZ before returning to Massachusetts. When she's not writing or reading super-gay poems, or listening to pop music, or fighting to save the world from made-up dangers, she's probably playing with one or more cats.
